Featuring Marjhani-Goth, LaSole-Flamenco, Raku-Indian, Troupe Melangees-Tribal,
and Scimitar Dance Company-Folkloric/Traditional Belly Dance!!!
Glitter Gypsies, Kalima Satori, Roz and the Kids, Charise, Jackie, Freya, Politti & many more dancers will also perform!
DANCE PERFORMANCES from 6-9pm. All
dance styles welcome to perform in the indoors atrium stage area. The performance area is a wooden floor 18' wide by 12' deep. Performers can enter from stage left or right. Chairs will be provided, and some audience members will view from the 2nd floor balcony. Dance slots are $1 per minute and available for 5, 7 or 10
minutes. All donations benefit the Claremont Forum. The Forum is a non profit-communicty organization promoting individual and social well-being through education, the arts, and wellness program, and the proud sponsor of the nationwide Prison Library Project. Dancer donations will be targeted to support the education of women in prison.
If you are interested in performing at Raqtoberfest, please download and complete the application. If spaces remain, you may sign up the day of the event after 3pm. Bring your music on a single CD organized for your performance. Dance time limits will be strictly enforced to give a variety of dancers the opportunity to perform. Videotaping and photography will be allowed.
DRUM CIRCLE with OPEN DANCING from 3-5pm on the outdoor patio.
TRIBAL DANCE JAM from 5-6 pm.
Come with your drums, percussion instruments, zils, and dance clothes. The tribal dance jam is available to any individuals or groups of dancers familiar with synchronized improvisation styles -such as ATS, CTS, ITS, or whatever - who wish to dance in communion with others to live drumming. VENDING. International Arts, ethnic crafts and world dance attire will be sold in the festival bazaar. Intuitive Card Readings, Henna, and other fun activities onsite. If you're interested in vending, contact us. Spaces are $10 for a space suitable for a 6ft table or rack, $30 for a 10x10 space. Set up is convenient and available anytime between 8am and 3pm. All vendors must be done by 10pm. Atrium space is open to all attendees and includes electricity and wireless internet access.
FOOD AND DRINK. Yummy healthy Mediterranean food available from Casablanca Restaurant onsite. Exquisite wines from the Wine Shop. Thai cuisine, world beers and burgers, vegan, italian, continental, and Mexican food - all available within a 5 minute walk of the venue.
ACCESS. Claremont, CA is just east of LA; accessible by Metrolink, the 10 and the 210 freeways, a 10 minute drive from Ontario Airport. Free parking available in the lot adjacent to the event location and throughout the Claremont Village.
The Claremont Packing House is a historic building converted to artist space. There are numerous galleries inside the space that will also be open during this event. We look forward to seeing you here!
